Los mánagers

Two jobless Forty-somethings: Maca and Rena are in serious need of a financial stroke of luck. When they spot an ad for a TV contest looking for the next Pop Idol, they decide to turn themselves into the MANAGERS of two young hopefuls: Pipo and David. While launching their careers with performances in bars, bingo clubs and other such dives they encounter Rota, a shady old singer who arranges for them to tour the Costa del Sol. Thus begins a frenetic road movie where dreams of success turn into a nightmare inhabited by strange creatures: Tom Jones clones, porn stars, enlightened arabs, psychopathic marines, kitch TV presenters, corrupt politicians and even extra-terrestrials.

Aida

La Scala went all out for its 1986 production of this grandest of grand operas, with a strong cast and, most important for a video recording, a larger-than-life staging. The Triumph Scene in Act II is by no means Aida's only attraction, but it is the part that makes the strongest and most lasting impression and it is the visual and musical climax of this production. Stage director Luca Ronconi brings on a procession to dwarf all processions: looted treasures, heroic statuary, miserable captives struggling under the lash of whip-bearing slave drivers. On par with these visuals is Lorin Maazel's first-class performance of the popular Grand March with the outstanding La Scala chorus and orchestra. In Act III, the contrasting tranquility of the Nile Scene also gets a visual treatment to match the music's qualities.

Mahaleos voices and music have accompanied the people of Madagascar ever since the collapse of the colonial regime. Yet, even after 30 years of success, the groups seven musicians still keep their distance from the world of show-business, and remain deeply committed to helping their countrys development; their professions range from surgeon to farmer, physician to sociologist and member of parliament. Accompanied by the groups rhythmic melodies, the film follows the singers through their daily lives, giving us a glimpse of the far-reaching social and economic problems of the Malagasy people. The combined talents of the Brazilian, Cesar Paes, and the Malagasy, Raymond Rajaonarivelo, have produced a work that is both ethereal and concrete, poetic and political.

Most of All, I Love Me

The songs "The 16th Sheep" and "This Kid Is Me", along with the children's songs of Arik Einstein, Chava Alberstein, Matti Caspi and others, have long been Israeli classics. Almost everyone can quote at least a line or two from "The Prettiest Girl in the Kindergarten", "Closed Kindergarten", "Lightning and Thunder", and "How is a Song Born"; Or close your eyes and see in your mind's eye the painted windows in the series "And This Kid", in which Yehuda Atlas told us in honest and touching verses, what the world of a child really looks like. Through interviews with Yehonatan Geffen, Yehuda Atlas, Yoni Rechter, Chava Alberstein, Matti Caspi and others, the film brings the untold story of the creation of the children's songs we grew up with. Along with the interviews, home movies and archive materials are shown, and the viewer embarks on a musical journey to the early days of the "me" generation.

Alka's Song

A romantic, strong-willed, and beautiful-voiced girl named Alevtina (Alka) falls in love with a married man named Sergey.
