Annie Oakley

This one hour documentary examines the life of the famed Sharp Shooter and Wild West performer, Annie Oakley from her birth in mid nineteenth century rural Pennsylvania to her death in 1926. Many myths are overturned and the program also features a little known trial when Annie Oakley had to sue The Hearst Newspaper chain all throughout the country for libel when they reported the activities of someone who was impersonating the famed sharpshooter and besmirching her reputation.

Desert Coffee

In the Californian part of the Sonoran desert, in the close vicinity of military bases, there is a “wild” town called Slab City inhabited by the refugees from the American Dream. Of different age, they brought with them various stories, but all chose freedom, even for the price of the most basic comforts. The only place equipped with electricity is a makeshift Internet café run by Rob which serves “the best coffee in the neighbourhood”.

Anissa Kaki is a 30-year-old Parisian theatre-maker, and Algerian Takia's granddaughter. In a piece based on her childhood memories, she evokes her grandmother's world. Whilst imitating how Takia prepared her mahjouba, she talks about the latter's smell and flavour – lent to it by grandmother's hands – which changed when they started to lose their strength.
